Dark Sun-rise

In January, we’re launching a miniseries based on the first post-apocalyptic Dungeons & Dragons series, DARK SUN. And in addition to a cover by D&D mainstay Wayne Reynolds, the first issue will also feature a cover by Andy Brase. And since Brase’s linework is too amazing to only show the finished version above, I’ve also included the flat colors and the original line-art, so you can see the whole process that went into his cover.

The first issue’s solicits:

Dark Sun #1

Alex Irvine (w) • Peter Bergting (a) • Andy Brase, Wayne Reynolds (c)

The post-apocalyptic Dungeons & Dragons setting gets its first ever comic! Beneath a crimson sun lie wastelands of majestic desolation and cities of cruel splendor where life hangs by a thread. Welcome to Athas! In Part 1 of “Ianto’s Tomb,” a runaway gladiator and part-time slave hunter cross swords, forever entwining their fates on this savage desert planet.
