The Week in IDW

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY talked up our coming new TRUE BLOOD series, “Tainted” (actually, it’ll be titled “Tainted Blood”), co-written TB actor Michael McMillian and Marc Andreyko.

LOCKE & KEY TV pilot has been in the news this week, with word on the first actor being cast (LOTR actress Miranda Otto starring as Nina Locke) and also the pilot’s director being close to signing (NEVER LET ME GO director Mark Romanek). Finally, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the pilot will shoot in Western Pennsylvania in January.

Johanna Draper Carlson talked up the third BLOOM COUNTY: THE COMPLETE LIBRARY at Comics Worth Reading.

G.I. JOE: COBRA II #10 and KILL SHAKESPEARE #7 both made Hannibal Tabu’s “Buy Pile” at Comic Book Resources.

The collected WIRE HANGERS TPB, released last week, has gotten some great word, too, including reviews at, Shock Til You Drop, and (The book also features an intro by classic CAPTAIN AMERICA/PUNISHER artist Mike Zeck. And you can also catch creator Alan Robert and his band, Life of Agony, on a new Headbanger’s Ball on MTV2 next month. Plus, you know, look at that kick-ass cover on the book–it’s HATCHET 2 actor Nick Principe all made up as Cypra, courtesy of Robert Hall’s Almost Human effects house.)

This isn’t an IDW book but I do want to spread word about a new MONKEY MAN strip by ANGEL/SPIKE writer Brian Lynch. The strip, which was one of the earliest webcomics I ran at back in the day, continues on and features art by GUN-FU artist Joey Mason. It’s now up at, which is even better news.
